Russ P. Toronto Ontario Born on The West Coast in a small fishing village called Spoke B.C., I grew up on the water. We enjoyed a lifestyle of fishing on the west coast as a family. I can remember a lot of great memories of fishing with my dad growing up. My dad has long since passed away, but those memories have always lived on. Although I have moved from B.C. to Ontario about 30 years ago, my passion for fishing has always continued even to this day. I am now a father of a son named Josh. You always wonder if your sons and daughters will share those recreational activities that you love. I am fortunate and blessed to have my son who loves to fish with me. For the past 7 years my son who is now 17 has been fishing with me on fly-in fishing trips. We have been to numerous lodges, but one our favorites is Lodge 88. Lodge 88 offers unparalleled fishing for Pike and Walleye. Esnagi Lake is one of the truly special places where it is easy to catch fish and the average size fish is much larger than other lodges we have been at. This is important when it comes to taking kids fishing. At Lodge 88 the action is nonstop which is great in the fact that kids like my son never get bored. One special moment occurred when I was fishing last June with my son at Lodge 88. Every year I would always be the one catching most of the fish. I would continually be teaching my son all those tips on how to be a better fisherman. It was mid week, the sun was out, a slight chop to the water with a gentle west wind. We took off and headed to a few of our favorite hot spots. We stopped and started fishing the first hole. To my amazement Josh(my son) immediately hooked up to a beautiful 3-1/2 pound walleye. He then continued to catch one after another. I was being out fished by my son probably 2 to 1. Then we went to the next hot spot and the same result with Josh reeling in fish after fish. As the day went on there was a sense of pride welling up within me. I looked over at my son and there was a confidence that I did not see in him before. I knew at that moment that he had come into his own as a fisherman. It's all about making memories and sharing those special moments with friends and family.
