ESNAGI LAKE

Twenty-seven miles of open water

Northern Ontario is the fishing destination of choice in the Americas and Esnagi Lake is one of Northern Ontario’s finest fishing lakes.  It was the first fishery in the Province of Ontario to be recognized with a lake management plan in the late 1960’s and one of the first in the Wawa district to see slot sizes in the early 90’s.  Esnagi produces more and larger fish than any other body of water in the Algoma Region.  With twenty-seven miles of open water,  hundreds of miles of coastline you and a varied subterranean terrain you know your trip will not only be fun but successful.

We encourage you to catch and release

We understand nothing is more important to you our guest than the quality of our fishery. Esnagi Lake has been under provincial protection since 1973. While slot sizes were introduced province-wide in Ontario in 2002 we approved the establishment of a slot size in 1993 to keep our prime spawning fish population healthy. Our efforts have been rewarded as we can offer you one of Ontario's finest fishing lakes with the average size of Esnagi fish significantly larger than other nearby lakes.

We appreciate your help by releasing as many fish as possible and purchasing a Conservation License. As the most important aspect of our experience is catching the fish many guests choose not to take home a limit. If we keep all the fish quite simply someday there will be no fish for anyone to catch but if we all treat the high quality of our fishery with respect we will be doing our part to ensure bountiful catches for future generations.
