FISHING TIPS

yellow WALLEYES
We find jigs work best.  Try a 1/4oz or 3/8oz yellow, gold fleck, orange, pink, white or chartreuse jig with no feathers/tails.  Bait the jig with a minnow or leach.  As for line 6lb test works best, clear, no flourescents!  Tie the jig right onto the line.  We don't use leaders or swivels.  Presentation is slow on a 2-4 mile an hour drift and jig bouncing off the bottom.  Some guest prefer to use a bottom bouncer with a 1oz weight.  We carry all assortments for purchase that work available in our tuck shop at the lodge.
daredevil NORTHERN PIKE
Williams spoons, small muskie lures, plugs, and spinners.  Try a Bass Noise Maker!  We use a heavier line, 10-14lb test with an 18" black leader and swivel.  Cast the edges of the lake or troll 3-4 miles per hour at a debth of about 10-15 feet for the monsters.  Pike love bling so make it shiny and reflective.
white jog PERCH
Use a smaller jig than for walleye, 1/8 oz works best in white or pink.  Bait with a piece of worm/crawler.  We suggest 2-4lb test line.
trout lure LAKE TROUT
We suggest Williams spoons, "Walleye Killers", jigs with tails, or your favourite spoon on a swivel.  Swedish pimple in red or little cleo in red/gold.  Try 8-12lb test line.  Our trout lake is a short portage from our main lake and has a regulation of "no live bait".  We have a canoe available for use while there to enjoy the cerenity of the enviroment.   This lake is self-guided.
speck lure BROOK TROUT
Try Blue Fox Mepps, Little Cleo 1/2oz red/gold or some other small spinner with swivel on 6-8lb test line.  Again "no live bait".
